February, 2010

The 1st race in the 2010 USATF Grand Prix Series was on Feb 28 -- the Jones 10 Miler in Amherst.
Nate Krah was 13th overall in 53:40. Jim Pawlicki ran 57:16, Lory Cavanagh 1:04:30, Larissa Park 1:04:56, Janos Mako 1:06:12, Tom Kinneman 1:06:50, Steve Seide 1:07:06, Sarah Prescott 1:16:21, Marsha Hogan 1:16:55, Chris Chetsas 1:19:29, Sharon Yu 1:39:23, and Cathy Kobler 1:45:02.

At the Hampton Half Marathon in Hampton, NH, on Feb 21, Pat Fournier led the GTD runners with a tremendous 1:15:44 (5:47), which was 3rd overall. Rob Campbell ran 1:27:58, Melissa Donais ran 1:28:37, and Shawn Conway ran a 12-minute PR of 1:30:57 (6:57). Deb Sakr ran 1:38:05, Linda Jowett 1:38:52, Cyndi Springford 1:47:21, and Jim Vitale 1:52:16, Chuck Batchelder 2:01:06, Carol Marshall 2:04:53, and Sarah Carrier 2:04:57.

Larissa Park was 2nd woman in 2:16:42 (6:51) at the Martha's Vineyard 20 miler on Feb 13. Tina Dowling was 3rd (and 1st master) in 2:17:33 (6:53). Beth Lindquist was 8th master in 2:35:15, Annie Starrett was 4th in her age group in 2:36:13, and Gina Newton was 8th in her age group in 2:39:13. Karen Durante won her age group in 2:46:59, and Betty Waldman was 3rd in hers in 3:49:37.
Don Chapelle was 3rd in his age in 2:17:34. Tim Harris ran 2:34:43. Cristina Winsor was 7th in her age group in 2;34:54. Dan Frank ran 2:44:14, and Glenn Simm 2:50:30. Henry Wilder ran 2:54:10.

Linda Jennings roared through the Bradford Valentine 5 Miler on Feb 13. Her stunning 34:34 (6:55) gave her 4th female and 1st senior. As astounding performance for a woman whose performance gets "younger" each year.
Janos Mako ran a wonderful 31:12 (6:15) and Colette Madore an excellent 38:09 (7:38). Shawn Conway ran 33:09 (6:38). Chuck Batchelder ran 45:07, and Jane Madore 55:42.

Kara Haas was 1st woman and 5th overall at the Super 5K in Lowell on Feb 7. Kara's time was 17:56 (5:47). Larissa Park was 2nd woman in 18:52. Janos Mako ran 18:37.

At the 36th Annual 15K Great Stew Chase in Lynn on Feb 7, Jim Pawlicki was 6th overall in 54:12 (5:49). Linda Ford won her age group in 1:13:50 (7:56).

At the Newburyport Rotary Frigid Fiver on Feb 7, Marshall McCloskey ran 50:49.


January, 2010

At the Greater Boston Track Club Invitational in Cambridge on Jan 24, Kara Haas was 2nd in the 3000 meters in 10:15:57, which was 11/100s of a second from 1st against a runner from another heat.

On Jan 24 at the Boston Prep 16 Miler in Derry (NH), Rob Campbell ran 1:51:11 (6:58 pace), Frank Row 1:59:35, Dan Hill 2:07:06, Cristina Winsor 2:08:41, Carmela Taveras 2:13:46, Scott Masse 2:18:05, Cyndi Springford 2:18:29, and Sharon Yu 2:37:21.

At the Arizona Rock 'n Roll Marathon in Phoenix on Jan 17, Jason Kramer ran a 12-minute PR of 3:04:15. Paul Hudson turned in a tremendous 3:47:11 and Lana Popova ran an equally outstanding 3:47:17.

At the Houston Marathon on Jan 17, Dan Vassalo ran 2:25:05, and Tammie Robie ran a 2-minute PR of 2:49:32.

Tammie Robie ran 17:38 at the Freeze Your Buns 5K in Nashua on Jan 10. She was 1st woman and 2nd overall.

Amy Dalton was 1st Woman at the Fat Ass 50K on Jan 9. Amy turned in a determined and wonderful performance at this 31 mile race put on by GAC at Bradley Palmer State Park in Topsfield. In snow, ice, sun and mushy conditions, Amy won her first ultra race.

Linda Jennings turned a workout run into a 1:36:28 finish at the Disney Half-Marathon in Orlando on Jan 9. Linda was top senior in this huge field that endured unlikely cold weather and snow. Those -- like Linda -- going to Florida to enjoy a warm run were not overjoyed. They could have stayed home for this. Who knew?

At the 29th Annual Hangover Classic 10K in Salisbury on Jan 1, Curt (31:12) and Nick (32:01) Wheeler were 1st and 4th. Melissa Donais was 2nd woman in 37:18. Cyndi Springford ran 48:14, Colette Madore 48:29, Rob Prunier 48:59, Sharon Yu 51:09, Jim Vitale 51:58, and Chuck Batchelder 52:29.
In the 5K, Donna Phaneuf ran 28:17, and Marshall McCloskey dominated the 70+ division in 30:32.

Dan Vassalo won the 1st Run 10K in Lowell on Jan 1. Dan's time was 31:59 (5:10 pace). Glenn Simm is back, running an excellent 42:35. Linda Jennings was top senior woman in 44:40. Dan Hill ran 43:55, Dan Frank 44:40, Debbie Sakr 45:26, Tom Fleming 45:44, Scott Masse 47:23, Lana Popova 51:39, and Jane Madore 1:10:42.
In the 5K, Kara Haas was 1st woman 18:24 and Frank Row was 1st master in 18:20. Tim Harris ran 26:12 (6:33) on Jan 1 at the Wicked Frosty Four in Salem (MA).
